Hola Beautiful Soul
Freedom is calling this week. Something that has different meanings for each of us. As one of my core values, freedom is something that is very important to me. It runs through my veins. One of the ways it is manifested on the outside is needing to do things my way. A strong internal recognition of what is right for me.
“My way is not the only way, my way is merely another way.”
~ Neale Donald Walsch
Reflecting on it now, what at times in the past might have exhibited as over independence or stubbornness, is in fact a huge asset. For it acts as a guiding force in my life. A way forward. A sense of certainty where often there is none.
Recognising our core values helps us to navigate life more effortlessly. For it is the recognition of the essence of who we are. If you feel very strongly about freedom it is probably one of your core values too.
Back in 2018 I gave a talk entitled The Road to Freedom and posed the question to the audience – what did freedom mean to each of them? I invite you to reflect on the same question. Your response may surprise you. For what we might have once believed evolves over time.
Your response may be very clear, very defined. Or it may be something that needs time to take shape as you ponder the idea. Trust yourself. What feels right to you. Even if it isn’t what you were expecting. Especially then.
This is a key aspect of freedom. Certainly as far as I am concerned. Allowing things to be exactly how they are. For how they are is how they are meant to be.
Being able to embody this idea, over time and with a great deal of practice, has brought me such a great experience of inner peace. It doesn’t mean that we become complacent. Or we condone anything that we find abhorrent. Instead, by dropping resistance to what is, we activate the power within us to do something about it. We literally empower ourselves to act.
This brings to mind an old favourite expression of mine:
Where we focus our attention our energy goes. What we focus our intention on our energy grows.
We have far more power than we realise to alter the course of our own lives and therefore the world. The question is what are we fuelling? Is it more of the same, or actually what we desire?
Blessèd Be.
